Ekler Architects, based in Budapest, have designed a Champagne maturing factory which has just been completed in Hungary’s wine region of Somló. The factory comprises of twin buildings, one is the winery and the other is for maturing. The site is concealed from the approach by a volcanic hill, but looks out on to the superb views of the vineyards.
Within the facility, there are spaces for administrative purposes as well as cave-like cellars for bottling , storage and statistics. There is also a concrete structure which cantilevers over the landscape to provide visitors the opportunity to taste the Champagne with panoramic views.
